3D PPM hydrodynamic simulations of H-ingestion into He-shell flash convection for a very-late thermal pulse (He-shell flash) model of Sakurai's object.

In this project we continued our collaboration with Paul Woodward (LCSE, University of Minnesota) and his team. We have added a nuclear burn module to the PPMstar code and set up a 3D simulation of the convection and ingestion of H in the very-late thermal pulse that Sakurai's object experienced. Initial runs at moderate and high resolution provide results that look promising when confronting them with observational constraints. The main new result in this work is that we found after a long run-up phase a new non-radial global oscillation, the Global Oscillation of Shell H-ingestion (GOSH).
